When is excavation needed instead of a no-dig repair?

Excavation is needed when a pipe has fully collapsed, lost its shape, severely misaligned, or where a new connection or rerouting is required. If the pipe still holds its form, a no-dig reline or patch is usually the better, cheaper option — and we'll always tell you honestly which one applies.

How do you avoid hitting gas, water, or electric cables?

Before excavating we obtain available service plans, scan the ground with a cable avoidance tool (CAT) and signal generator, and hand-dig around the location of any detected services. All excavation work follows HSG 47, the HSE guidance on avoiding danger from underground services.

Will you put my garden or driveway back?

Yes. Reinstatement is part of the job. We backfill and compact the excavation and reinstate the surface — soil and turf, block paving, tarmac, or concrete — so the area is left safe and tidy.

Can you excavate on contaminated or commercial sites?

Yes. We carry out excavation on commercial sites and contaminated land, including fuel-affected ground, with the appropriate RAMS, containment, and licensed disposal of any contaminated material.
