Failed Pump Station De-Rag — Leeds Care Home

Emergency call-out to a Leeds care home with a failed pumping station. The wet well was heavily blocked with rag waste — our vacuum tanker cleared it, the pumps were lifted and de-ragged, and full flow was restored the same visit.

The Challenge

We were called out to a care home in Leeds with a failed pumping station and the high-water alarm activated on the control panel. On arrival we found the pumping station heavily blocked with rag waste — the pumps were buried in it and unable to operate. With vulnerable residents on site, restoring the station quickly was critical.

Our Solution

We ran our vacuum tanker's hoses through the site to the station and removed the rag waste and contents of the wet well, giving us clear access to the pumps. Both pumps were then lifted out and thoroughly de-ragged — the impellers and floats were caked in wipes and rag — before the chamber itself was fully cleaned down.

The Result

With the pumps and pumping station free of rag waste, we carried out a thorough check of the station and confirmed full flow was restored, clearing the high-water alarm. The station was left clean, running correctly, and back protecting the home — with zero disruption to residents.
